In the last decade, we have become obsessed with fixing what we think is wrong with farm-raised shrimp, an industry that accounts for over 85% of the shrimp consumed in the US. Poor farming practices, careless handling and intentional abuse and adulteration have destroyed the reputation of what is a delicious and accessible source of clean protein.
Buying seafood at the grocery store and cooking it at home can be a hassle: inconsistent product quality, messy prep, strong smells, unfamiliar meal planning and disappointing results.
